A Few Thoughts on Chemicals and Cleaning

I am still working on My Bob Marley article.  Geez, its been a while since I have really done any research papers/articles, so I am moving a little slowly.  I really want this blog to keep moving, so I am uploading a short article I wrote a while back.  The amount of chemicals we are made to ingest is definately a part of the bigger plan to destroy our health.  This does not only apply to cleaning supplies, think big on this one.  There are massive amounts of chemicals in everything that we put on our bodies as well.  Here is a quick introduction to a topic I will be covering in much detail as we go along.

AN ABRIDGED HISTORY OF CLEANING WITH CHEMICALS

Before WWII we relied mainly on coconut oil based soaps to clean just about everything. When the war broke out, unable to get coconut oil, we turned to chemical-petroleum based cleaners. Though these cleaners were more accessible and cheaper to make, they proved harmful to the environment and those who used them. After the war, American chemical companies, used to making extra profits from the sale of chemical cleaners, launched extensive advertising campaigns, designed to convince the American woman that a clean house was her life’s work, and that she needed their wares to be successful in this career.

Today, the average American, has an arsenal of chemicals at his/her disposal. You use one product for tile, and another to clean the shower. You pull out yet another bottle when it’s time to wipe down the countertops. Is this really necessary? Or is it a byproduct of over sixty years of learned chemical dependence reinforced by countless ads?

WHY CONSIDER CLEANING ORGANICALLY

A 1991 study found that the average American home uses approximately 25 gallons of toxic products per year in our homes. In some cases indoor pollution can prove more dangerous than outdoor pollution.

DID YOU KNOW?
-Studies have found a link between our ultra-clean environment and the rising incidence of asthma in modern society.
-Children need to be exposed to some bacteria in order to build immunity to various germs and viruses. Anti-bacterial products do not discriminate; they also create super bugs, which can survive assaults from conventional insecticides.
-US poison centers handle, on average, one poisoning every 13 seconds. According to the National Safety Council, there were nearly 2.4 million poisonings in the US in 2005. Of these, 93% occurred in a residence, and over half involved small children under the age of six.
-The only way we can smell something, is if the chemical enters our body.
-99% of all housecleaning can be safely completed without the use of chemicals.

FACTS THAT MAY SURPRISE YOU

-A child born into a home where chemicals such as bleach are used is two times more likely to suffer from persistent wheezing.
-A 1999 Study found that homes where air freshener is used often, mothers experience 25% more headaches, and were 19% more likely to suffer from depression.
-In the same homes, infants under six months were found to have 30% more ear infections and 22% more diarrhea.
-Bleach is one of the most toxic substances known to man.
-The terms, biodegradable, non-toxic, natural, no-CFCs (or chlorofluorocarbons), nontoxic,
and organic are not regulated. (Only food can be certified organic)
-Though you can complete the majority of your cleaning using four ingredients: baking
soda, lemon, white vinegar and borax, for some, mixing household cleaners may be
impractical. Luckily, there are a number of products available that are kind to the
environment. The key is to read the ingredients.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING CLEANING SUPPLIES
SOLVENTS grain alcohol NOT butyl cellosolve
DETERGENTS coconut or other plant oils NOT petroleum
DISINFECTANTS plant oil (eucalyptus. rosemary or sage) NOT triclosan

ORGANIC CLEANING STARTER

KITCHEN
Dishwashing by hand: Lemon juice is a main ingredient in commercial dish soaps. This is because it is an excellent grease fighter, the rest of the ingredients are mainly added fragrance and artificial colors.

Oven Cleaning:
Floors:
Mix 2tbspn baking soda and 2 tbspn salt in 1 cup of hot water to form a paste. Spread over oven and heat to 200 degrees for 5-10 minutes. Let cool then wipe away with warm water and a damp rag.Mix ½ cup white vinegar with 1 gallon hot water. This solution is safe for all washable surfaces including linoleum, tile and hardwood.
BATHROOM:
Scouring Powder:
Mix 1 cup baking soda, with 1 cup washing soda.  Add essential oils and Hawaiian or Epsom salt for an extra kick.

Drains: To clear clogs, pour baking soda down drain followed by white vinegar.  Let sit for a few minutes, then follow with hot water. Repeat if necessary.
Glass Cleaner:  Vinegar and water can be used to clean most glass surfaces.  Rubbing alcohol can be used for oily surfaces or fingerprints.
THE REST OF THE HOUSE:
Citrus oil can be purchased cheaply (about $5 a gallon) from any home improvement store. It is all natural and a gallon should last around six months. For wood cleaning, mix a solution of 1 cup citrus oil and 1 gallon hot water.Borax works wonderfully for eliminating odors, including pet urine and sour milk.
For Musty Smells:
Add 1 teaspoon tea tree to a cup of warm water in a spray bottle.  Spray over offending odor. Do not wipe up. The oil should evaporate within a couple of days, taking the offensive odor with it. Repeat if necessary.
CLOTHING
Whites:
¼ cup washing soda (sodium carbonate) and ¼ cup white vinegar.
Dark Clothes:
¼ cup salt with ¼ cup white borax. Salt helps restore faded colors, while removing dirt.
Environmentally Safe Dryer Sheets:
Put two or three drops of essential oil on a damp rag, throw it in the dryer with wet laundry.

For Wood:
Carpets:

Lindsey's Laundry Detergent
(an easy way to clean your clothes and save money)

1 bar soap
1 cup Borax
1 cup Washing Soda
1/2 cup Baking Soda
1/2 cup Hawaiian or Epsom Salt
Essential oils to your liking

Basically, all you do is mix all of the ingredients together and viola, soap!  It works really well.  Use 1-2 tbsp for the high effeciencey model washers and 2-4 tbsps for an old fashioned top loader.  I usually use fels naptha, a laundry soap, but you can use other soaps.  However, they must be the kind with no added moisturizer: I have used Ivory, Dr. Bronner's and Yardleys.  I especially like the yardleys because they make a number of nice scents made with natural essential oils.  Washing Soda and Borax can be found here in Waianae at Tamuras and Longs.  You can also find them at Wal-Mart.  I have been doing this for about a year now, and I LOVE it!!

Satanism Explained

I am sorry for the Kardashian post last night, I get carried away sometimes lol  Actually, get used to it because my interests are all over the place.  In college as an American Studies major, we studied the entire culture and that is what I continue to do to this day.  With that being said, I think the upcoming Kardashian divorce trial will help lead to the awakening  of many people and that is always a good thing.  I am loathe to admit that I spent three hours reading comments on TMZ last night, but it seems that the majority of the tabloid reading public has completely turned against Ms. Kardashian.  Many seem to believe that Kris Humphries was completely unawares that he was being set up as a stand in groom.  I am not so sure.

For those of you who could give a flying you-know-what about fake-assed (lol) reality stars, I am working on a much more serious post for the near future.  It will explore and explain the involvement if the World's elite in the Worship of the Devil.  Until I can get that all finished, rather than just leave that last post up, I am going to post a couple of you tube videos that give a good introduction to the subject.

As of tomorrow, I will be sitting at this desk with a pen and a composition book.  I am going to be seriously researching and analyzing this conspiracy.  I will be bringing it to you, live, from the middle of nowhere.

Randomness...

http://realityrewind.com/kim-kardashian-and-kris-humphries-divorce-trial-to-be-televised-fraud-will-be-proved-351879/

So the gist of this article is that Kris humphries is suing Kim Kardashian for fraud regarding their 72 day marriage.  I love it!  I know this may not seem like a New World Order topic to many of you, but these people (and many other reality stars) have become a BIG part of many Americans lives, thus molding our realities to some extent.

Conincidentally, I was just watching this show at home on my new cable TV.  I know, I know.  There was a marathon and I got sucked in.  It was impossible for me not to notice exactly how scripted the entire thing was.  Poor Kris had no idea that his wife was planning their divorce the entire time they were in New York, behind his back.  She had numerous conversations with everyone BUT Kris, discussing her unhappiness and how her fairytale wasn't what she wanted.

I believe this trial is going to be very bad publicity for the Kardashian clan.

Waking Up Is Hard To Do

“Today is filled with anger, fueled with hidden hate.
Scared of being outkast, afraid of common fate.
Today is built on tragedies which no one want's to face.
Nightmares to humanity and morally disgraced.
Tonight is filled with Rage, violence in the air.
Children bred with ruthlessness cause no one at home cares.
Tonight I lay my head down but the pressure never stops,
knowing that my sanity content when I'm dropped.
But tomorrow I see change, a chance to build a new,
build on spirit intent of heart and ideas based on truth.
Tomorrow I wake with second wind and strong because of pride.
I know I fought with all my heart to keep the dream alive.”
―
Tupac Shakur

I have always felt as if I have something important to contribute to society and I have never been sure exactly what that is. I know it has to do with my writing which is easy for most to understand and digest. I have never been able to finish, or even start, that big novel.  Though I have had some success with freelancing for local magazines, the subjects I am allowed to write about feel stifling, and leave much to be desired.

Lately, I have been using facebook as a soapbox, and damn, am I feeling defeated.  At first people would argue with my posts and then call me a crazy nut job and now they just seem annoyed. I have been called negative and paranoid a lot lately. One person even commented that my post advocating critical thinking in regards to the mainstream media (msm) made them feel stupider. WTF?!

So I know it is time for me to grow and expand my audience to include more people who have woken up (or are in the process of) to the matrix that surrounds us. Let me clarify that a bit: I am done banging my head against a brick wall trying to convince the sheeple. If a person is not at least open to the idea of entertaining the notion of a conspiracy by the powers that be for world dominance, I will move onto someone who is, thank you very much.

With that said, I am moving my focus from trying to wake up the masses Instead, I am going to use this blog to aid those who want the truth, in their journey. Even my “awake” friends think I am crazy when I say that I believe there will be a mass awakening sometime in the near future. Well, I do.  I will tell you why: I have attacked this conspiracy from every angle and no matter which path you take, the destination is the same. The bad guys are the same in every industry. Follow the money and you will eventually end up face to face with the same 1%, and by proxy, the Devil.

Now I am no Bible Thumper, but this much I know to be true: the people who run our country (and most others the world over) are straight up Devil Worshippers. There is a mountain of evidence out there to support this and I will be posting some of it here. If you keep that in mind, all of the things I write about should make more sense. How many times have you said, “well if they would just do this...” or, “I don't understand why they won't do this” Even though we know (through conditioning) that it is all about money, it still does not completely make sense. Money can be made doing the right thing and there are companies out there who do just that.

The saying, “money is the root of all evil,” is absolutely true, but there is another truth there as well.  Follow the money (leaves, fruit of tree) and you will find the evil (roots). The evil is what feeds the system of which money is the representation. What if the idea is to keep us in slavery and that's why they do things like start and maintain senseless wars or allow famines and genocides?  What if that is the point and the money is the means of enforcement?  It goes without saying that those who have the money have the power, but that is mainly because we let them.  We buy into their lies and manipulation and consent to our bondage through our participation.

As the movement that is currently occupying our cities (and the collective imagination of many progressive individuals) asserts, "we are the 99%."   That's right people, even thought we feel powerless in the face of the massive military industrial complex our government has built, we outnumber them. Big time.

See if you can wrap your head around that one.  Ninety nine percent of the population of the entire world is ruled by the other 1%.  Why are we allowing this to take place?  The reasons are many, but I will rant on that plenty later, believe me.  The natural conclusion once someone does the research, in my opinion anyway, is that the only way to win the game is to refuse to play and jump on the next chessboard.  In other words, "Fuck 'em!"

The sad reality of today's America (and the rest of the world) is that if you play by the rules as they are currently laid out, you will lose.  I think TuPac put it best when he said, "we ain't meant to survive, it's a setup"  This is truth right here.  If you do what your government wants you to, you will end up in bondage one way or another.  If you do the traditional western medicine thing; (vaccines, pain medicines, Doctors treating symptoms and not causes) chances are you will develop some chronic disorder within your lifetime.  If that doesn't get you maybe your food will.  Of course, processed foods are the worst, but even most "healthy" foods have been tampered with in some way, whether it be with hormones, antibiotics, genetic modification or radiation.  Most products these days have at least one ingredient that has been linked to cancer.

This doesn't stop with just your medicine and your food.  This also includes everything you put on your body, as well as the things you wash your clothes and clean your homes with.  The attack that we are suffering through does not stop with your body even.  This is a world-wide evil conspiracy that will not stop until it has devoured and destroyed every living thing that does not bow to their will.  Their war against us has been waged for many years with our complete ignorance offering the cover they need to accomplish their nefarious ends.  This is a battle for your energy, your very essence, your soul.

I, for one, refuse to go down like that.  That is why I am creating this blog.  Growing up here in Makaha, I was always having to deal with bullies who tried to stomp on my light.  I never gave into them, I have always said that even though I am not the best fighter, I will never just lay down.  I have never been in a fight where I gave up.  Even when I got my ass beat, they always came back and told me that it was a hard fight.  Well, I am taking that ideology forward and now I am applying it to what is most definitely the fight of my life.  I urge you to join me, and through education, pursuit of truth, and spiritual awareness, we will wage our own war.

Starting with my next blog, I will begin to expose the NwO and their agenda piece by piece.

I'm baaaack...

Here I am after nearly a week of dealing with the stomach flu, still reeling from its effects.  I was checking my email with the thought in the back of my mind that maybe its time to give up on the blog because it is not turning out how I planned.  As I looked through my gmail inbox (full of notices from plentyoffish.com--probably the most irritating site on the web) there was one gem amidst the clutter.  Some woman wrote ME an email praising MY blog.  She said she was super-impressed with the format and content of my blog and wants me to contribute to another blog that she works on.  Well, I know this is probably bullshit, and a troller at that, but it was enough to make me smile knowing that SOMEONE (or computer program) found me. And, it was enough to break me out of my self-pity to get me back in the mindset.  So: the blog is on.

Unfortunately, I do not think that the Home Made Christmas Challenge is gonna go exactly the way I planned, so I will be changing it a bit.  Instead of making twenty gifts in twenty days I will take you through my shopping/crafting experience and show you how I saved money (and my sanity) this Christmas season by using the philosophy I wrote about in my first entry.

I was in Savers this weekend and I got in line behind a woman who happened to know the the woman checking out in the line next to us.  When the woman in my line asked what she was doing at this store, the second woman shrugged and asked pointedly, "do you really think I am gonna go out and blow a bunch of money on Christmas?!"  She had a salad spinner (still in the package) and a bunch of really cute aprons and things for around the house.  She spent less than twenty dollars.

This is why I am such a big fan of thrift stores.  You do not ONLY have to get used things when you shop there.  You would be surprised how many things I have found at Savers or Goodwill still in their original packaging.  At savers, they have a select color tag everyday that is half off and on certain days you can go and one tag will be only .99 cents.  Besides saving you money, shopping at thrift stores helps save the planet.  When you buy something that someone else donated, you just keep that item out of a landfill.

So this is my philosophy, and I will be back tonight with either more harrowing (but true) tales of shopping before Christmas, or an ACTUAL CRAFT!!!!

Ok, so I know I am now two days behind on my Home Made Christmas Challenge.  I just wanted to stop in and apologize for not posting.  I have had a long couple of days.  I just got an order for four sets of burp cloths (I sell these on Craigslist) so I am stressing about that.  Perfect timing, I am already behind.  But I am not one to kick a gift horse in the mouth, I can use all the extra money I can get.

In other news, I received an email from the editor of Honolulu Magazine today.  I sent them a resume about a month ago, and today I found out that they want mt to pitch a story.  How exciting is that.  So keep your fingers crossed for me.

So, I apologize again, but I promise I will be back tomorrow... (not that anyone is really reading this)

Day One: Play Doh

Well, today I had planned to start off with a bang by making these really cute sushi magnets made out of felt and yarn.  In preparation for this project, I went shopping and bought every color of felt except the black I needed for the sushi's nori.  Then, my sister who promised to pick up said felt couldn't bring herself to get out of the car when she pulled into Longs' busy parking lot.  When she got home, I rushed back to the store.  Of course, they close early on Sundays.  I arrived at 7:03 and the door was blocked by the hulking she-male security guard, so I figured I'd just go with my back-up plan.

Play-Doh is one of those gifts that just about any kid under a certain age will get a kick out of.  It costs pennies to make, and the Home Made version comes out just as well as store bought.

Home Made Play-Doh

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tbsp oil
1 cup water
food coloring
essential oil (optional)

The directions I got off the net said to mix all of the dry ingredients together, add the water and then heat to medium, stirring until the mixture forms a ball in the middle of the pan.  I did this the first time I made play-doh for the boys.  Briana (my sister--who I will write of often) said that she thought the Home Made was a tad grittier than the store bought.  She hypothesized that this was due to the salt not melting all the way during the cooking process.

Tonight when I made this recipe, I first put the cup of water and the salt in the pan and turned the heat to high.  As soon as this began to boil I added the food coloring (around 20-30 drops if you want bright colors).  I then set it aside to cool while I mixed the remaining ingredients together in the measuring cup.  After they were all mixed together I added them to the salt and water and began to stir.  Using this method, the Play Doh does not form a ball, but looks more like a dry-ish rue.  I took it out of the pan and let it sit for a minute before kneading it for a few minutes.  Doing it this way, I noticed an improvement with the texture.

I also noticed the last time I made this that after a while it began to smell oily (I used vegetable oil) so this time I added some essential oils to the dough.  I did this during the kneading and was pleased with the results I achieved with about three drops to each batch.  So what I ended up with was something akin to those markers we had as kids--you know the ones that all smelled like a different fruit.  I did lavender for the purple play doh, rose for the red and spa therapy for the green.  Now that I think about it, however, I probably could have avoided the whole thing by using baby oil.  I swear, sometimes I am so slow. :)

Anyway, I am happy with the way the play doh turned out.  Add a couple of cookie cutters and a rolling pin and you have a complete gift that any kid will have hours of fun with.  I found a rolling pin at savers for $2 and bought a tub of 101 cookie cutters from Ben Franklin for $10.  Add the flour and other stuff and you are looking at a gift that costs less than $5.

This is a pic of the first batch I made because my lame ass cannot find the cord to upload pics.  So, I apologize for my lack of organization and with that I am going to turn in.  Tomorrow, I will be back with some sushi for your asses!
